FILING REQUIREMENTS.
To file a Trademark Application in Italy we require:
a) Precise information on the country and the date of each basic Application, which shall be stated at the filing of application in Italy. Information of the serial number(s) may be filed later (4 months from date of filing Application). b) Document of priority: unlegalized certified copy of each basic Application is required. If not in Italian, a full translation shall also be supplied. These documents may be filed within four months from date of filing Application in Italy.
Term for late filing: 2 months (6 months for priority document)
PROCEDURE MAIN DETAILS.
Examination: All applications are subject to formal examination only by the Patent and Trade Marks Office. After that, they are published in the Official Bulletin for opposition purposes.
Registration: When the Examiner decides that there are no reasonable grounds of rejection, he issues a decision for registration. Duration: 10 years from the date of application, with privilege of renewal for 10-years periods.
Delivery of official certificate of registration: Ordinarily, certificates of registration are issued approximately 12 to 18 months after filing of the application.
